VMS Seminar – The Zulu War 1879
Saturday 23rd March 2019 – The Civil Service Club, 13-15 Great Scotland Yard, London SW1A 2HJ. Our parent organisation, the Victorian Military Society, have already sold out at their popular history seminar for 2019. This year the theme reflects the 140th anniversary of the Zulu War. The Diehard Company will be there in our Zulu War guise as the 24th regiment of foot. We look forward to sharing anecdotes from our trip to South Africa earlier in the year.

Claremont Gardens, Surrey – First Boer War
11th – 12th May 2019 – Claremont Gardens, Portsmouth Road, Esher, Surrey, KT10 9JG. The Diehards will be on campaign at Claremont Gardens with our comrades in the 2nd Queens’ Royal West Surreys and the Crusades group. For the past few years at Claremont we have worked together to portray the battles of the First Boer War 1880-81, in which the British Army found itself outgunned by the citizen-soldiers of the Transvaal.

Milton Keynes Museum
22nd – 23rd June 2019 – Milton Keynes Museum, McConnell Drive, Wolverton, Milton Keynes, MK12 5EL. The Diehards will be showing off our 1880s home service display with Queen Victoria and the Ragged Victorians. With a royal inspection on the cards, spit and polish is the name of the game for home service.
Royal Welsh Museum, Brecon
20th-23rd July 2019 – The Regimental Museum of the Royal Welsh, The Barracks, Brecon, Powys, LD3 7EB – The Diehard Company, as the 24th Regiment of Foot in 1879, will be taking part in several major events in and around Brecon this weekend in support of an official visit by HM King Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu of the Zulu Nation who kindly hosted us in Kwazulu-Natal in January. In addition to a parade through Brecon we will be providing an honour guard at the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show on the 22nd and 23rd.

Military Odyssey
24th – 26th August 2019 – Military Odyssey, Detling, Kent. Military Odyssey is the largest multi-period event in the UK and the Diehard Company puts in a regular appearance. Details to be confirmed but we will be there!
Henley Fort
8th September 2019 – Henley Fort, Guildford GU2 4RH. The Diehards will be providing a visual timeline of the evolution of the British Army from the Crimea to the Second Boer War at this historic fort, originally built as a base for defending London from a possible French invasion in the 1860s.
